23 The king was overjoyed and gave orders to lift Daniel out of the den. And when Daniel was lifted from the den, no wound was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.
24 At the king’s command, the men who had falsely accused Daniel were brought in and thrown into the lions’ den, along with their wives and children. And before they reached the floor of the den, the lions overpowered them and crushed all their bones. Wow careful who you're married to. The wives and children paid for the sins of the husbands and fathers.
25 Then King Darius wrote to all the nations and peoples of every language in all the earth:
“May you prosper greatly!
26 “I issue a
decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the God
of Daniel.
“For he is the
living God
and he endures forever;
his kingdom will not be destroyed,
his dominion will never end.
27 He rescues and he saves;
he performs signs and wonders
in the heavens and on the earth.
He has rescued Daniel
from the power of the lions.” This coming from a man who doesn't even believe. Why are these praises not rolling off the tongues of believers more?

forever! 22 My
God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths and they have not
harmed me, inasmuch as [o]I was found innocent before Him; and
also [p]toward you, O king, I have committed
no crime.” 23 Then
the king was very pleased and gave orders for Daniel to be taken up out of the
den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den and no injury whatever was
found on him, because he had trusted in his God. 24 The king then gave orders, and
they brought those men who had[q]maliciously accused Daniel, and
they cast them, their children and their wives into the lions’ den;
and they had not reached the bottom of the den before the lions overpowered
them and crushed all their bones.
25 Then
Darius the king wrote to all the peoples, nations and men of every [r]language who were living in all the
land: “May your [s]peace abound! 26 [t]I make a decree that in all
the dominion of my kingdom men are to fear and tremble before the God of
Daniel; God’s Sovereignty over all things is being declared by an evil
king. This is really one of God’s easier miracles of overcoming the instinct
of the lions to eat and devour. I love the foreshadowing of the coming
kingdom that will not be destroyed where lions and lambs will coexist and lie
down together.
For He is the living God and enduring
forever,
And His kingdom is one which will not be destroyed,
And His dominion will be [u]forever.
27 “He delivers and rescues and performs signs and wonders
In heaven and on earth,
Who has also delivered Daniel from the [v]power of the lions.”

What a testimony to God!
How
could anyone doubt?
But
the same can be said of people today...despite the Word we have been given,
there are still doubters. We must continue to lift Him up as Daniel did.

I've always wondered why the wives and children were punished, too. Shows
how very careful we must be with our actions so as not to harm our family.

The
man or woman who trusts in God and obeys his will is untouchable until God
takes him or her. To trust God is to have immeasurable peace. God, who
delivered Daniel, will deliver us. But, do we trust him with our lives?

the floor of the den, the lions overpowered them and crushed all their bones. This is a perfect example of how evil deeds can backfire
with terrible consequences. In this case the evil officials AND their families
were fed to the lions. Many times our actions affect others around us.

Daniel.

the living God

Nebuchadnezzar
had come to believe that Israel’s God was real because of the faithfulness of
Daniel and his friends. Not to mention that “the real God” also turned him into
an animal for seven years. That certainly should do it. Here Darius was also
convinced of God’s power because Daniel was faithful and God rescued him.
Although Daniel was captive in a strange land, his devotion to God was a
testimony to powerful rulers. If you find yourself in new surroundings, take
the opportunity to testify about God’s power in your life. We must be faithful
to God so he can use us to make an impact on others.
28 So Daniel
prospered during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

7 In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon, Daniel had a
dream, and visions passed through his mind as he was lying in bed. He wrote
down the substance of his dream.
2 Daniel said: “In my vision at
night I looked, and there before me were the four winds of heaven churning up
the great sea. 3 Four
great beasts, each different from the others, came up out of the sea.4 “The first was like a lion, and it had the wings of an eagle. I watched until its wings were torn off and it was lifted from the ground so that it stood on two feet like a human being, and the mind of a human was given to it.
5 “And there before me was a second beast, which looked like a bear. It was raised up on one of its sides, and it had three ribs in its mouth between its teeth. It was told, ‘Get up and eat your fill of flesh!’
6 “After that, I looked, and there before me was another beast, one that looked like a leopard. And on its back it had four wings like those of a bird. This beast had four heads, and it was given authority to rule.
7 “After that, in my vision at night I looked, and there before me was a fourth beast—terrifying and frightening and very powerful. It had large iron teeth; it crushed and devoured its victims and trampled underfoot whatever was left. It was different from all the former beasts, and it had ten horns.
8 “While I was thinking about the horns, there before me was another horn, a little one, which came up among them; and three of the first horns were uprooted before it. This horn had eyes like the eyes of a human being and a mouth that spoke boastfully.

and there before me was one like a son of man,[a] coming with the clouds of heaven. He
approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. 14 He was given authority, glory and sovereign
power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is
an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that
will never be destroyed.
