Rachel Workman: 8 Then
Jesus said, “What is the Kingdom of God like? How
can I illustrate it? 19 It is like a tiny mustard seed that a man
planted in a garden; it grows and becomes a tree, and the birds make nests in
its branches.”
Sounds like a place we will want to make
our home.

John Burnett: 14 Indignant because Jesus
had healed on the Sabbath, the synagogue leader said to the people,
“There are six days for work. So come and be healed on those days, not on
the Sabbath.”
15 The Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Doesn’t
each of you on the Sabbath untie your ox or donkey from the stall and lead it
out to give it water? 16 Then should not this
woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen
long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?”
17 When he said this, all his opponents were
humiliated, but the people were delighted with all the wonderful things he
was doing. The synagogue leader thought he knew
better than Jesus Christ. Self-Righteousness is the sin that I think
Jesus hates the most and when we do things our way, we basically are saying
with our actions, that we know better than Jesus too. Jesus told it like
it is and called the leaders of the church “Hypocrites”. I would not doubt
that Jesus would say the same thing today to those pastors who are not
preaching the gospel of repentance and faith every Sunday.
The Parables of the
Mustard Seed and the Yeast
18 Then Jesus asked, “What is the kingdom of
God like? What shall I compare it to? 19 It
is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his garden. It grew and
became a tree, and the birds perched in its branches.”

Tomorrow’s reading for Luke 13:20-21
20 He also asked, “What else is the
Kingdom of God like? 21 It is like the yeast a woman used in
making bread. Even though she put only a little yeast in three measures of
flour, it permeated every part of the dough.”
