Rachel Workman: 9 History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new. 10 Sometimes people say, “Here is something new!” But actually it is old; nothing is ever truly new. 11 We don’t remember what happened in the past, and in future generations, no one will remember what we are doing now. These verses couldn't be more fitting for today. We worry about the future of our world and this generation. But the truth is everything that's being done now has already been done. There is nothing new.
It might serve us well to look back and see
how it worked out for those before us.

John Burnett: That which has been is
that which will be,
And that which has been done is that which will be done.
So there is nothing new under the sun. 10 Is there anything of which one might say,
“See this, it is new”? This is a great way to look at the Word of God. When someone says I have a new revelation from God, we can know that is not true because everything God want’s us to know is in the Cannon of Scripture. There is nothing new, especially new revelation, under the sun.
Already it has existed for ages
Which were before us.
11 There is no remembrance of [a]earlier things;
And also of the [b]later things which will occur,
There will be for them no remembrance
Among those who will come [c]later still. This is a good thing as the later things which will occur are going to be gruesome when God pours out His wrath and evil on the earth has free reign for a while during the tribulation.
And that which has been done is that which will be done.

Tomorrow’s reading for Ecclesiastes
1:12-15
12 I, the Teacher, was king of Israel,
and I lived in Jerusalem. 13 I devoted myself to search for
understanding and to explore by wisdom everything being done under heaven. I
soon discovered that God has dealt a tragic existence to the human race. 14 I
observed everything going on under the sun, and really, it is all
meaningless—like chasing the wind.
15 What is wrong cannot be made right.
What is missing cannot be recovered.
What is missing cannot be recovered.
