1 Timothy 2:9-16

Rachel Workman: 9 And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes. 10 For women who claim to be devoted to God should make themselves attractive by the good things they do. Here I see the words and I want women to be modest... not God wants but I want. Although irrelevant whether I agree with this or not, I agree. It's far out of hand what our society deems permissible on clothing today.

11 Women should learn quietly and submissively. 12 I do not let women teach men or have authority over them. Let them listen quietly. 13 For God made Adam first, and afterward he made Eve. 14 And it was not Adam who was deceived by Satan. The woman was deceived, and sin was the result. 15 But women will be saved through childbearing, assuming they continue to live in faith, love, holiness, and modesty. The submission of wives to their own husbands is a part of the original creation. The disorder we have in society today results from a violation of that God-given order. I think today we need more men willing to stand up and fulfill this role in a Godly way and less passiveness on man's part. Not to step on any toes here. If men were filling the roles God created them to have then we would see less problems with passages like this. Trust when I say this is an area that I need much improvement in. But if more men were men and more women were women our society would be better off. Today you see too much role changing and not enough moral preserving. It's disheartening.

Satan deceived the woman into sinning; the man sinned with his eyes wide open. Because Adam rejected the God-given order, he listened to his wife, disobeyed God, and brought sin  and death into the world. Since the man was created to be over woman why didn't Adam stop Eve? The sin falls on him also for not fulfilling the role God created him for.  I believe they were equally guilty of sin. Sorry if this seemed more like a rant today.

Krista Cook: These verses tend to get me in the preachin' mode - MODESTY - a word much of our world has forgotten.
For Christian women, this should be a given - but sadly, it is ignored.  Sure makes it tough trying to raise a daughter when she has so few to look to as role models.  We need to get back to the basics of scripture.
And as for women not teaching men or having authority over them - I cringe when I hear of ladies in the pulpits and serving in churches in positions God intended for men.  Again - the need to get back to scripture.  Scripture is so clear and so easy to follow.
