Ecclesiastes 3:14-15

Rachel Workman: 14 And I know that whatever God does is final. Nothing can be added to it or taken from it. God’s purpose is that people should fear him. 15 What is happening now has happened before, and what will happen in the future has happened before, because God makes the same things happen over and over again.

Interesting verses today. God makes the same thing happen over and over again. These verses prove to be correct. If you need proof, pick up your bible. It's good to know that God's word is final.

John Burnett:  14 I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that people will fear him.
15 Whatever is has already been,
    and what will be has been before;
and God will call the past to account

Some deep doctrinal attributes of God discussed in these verses.  God is eternal (will endure forever), God is immutable (does not change so nothing can be added or subtracted from who He is or what He does), and God will judge us and call our past into account.  We are condemned and should fear what God will do to us if we don’t repent of our sins and put our trust in Jesus Christ.  When we do this, it is no longer our account record God is judging but our new record of perfection that is imputed to us when we put our trust in Jesus.

16 I also noticed that under the sun there is evil in the courtroom. Yes, even the courts of law are corrupt! 17 I said to myself, “In due season God will judge everyone, both good and bad, for all their deeds.”

Ecclesiastes 3:9-13

Rachel Workman: What do people really get for all their hard work? 10 I have seen the burden God has placed on us all. 11 Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end. 12 So I concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can. 13 And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God.

I love how Solomon states that God has made everything beautiful for it's own time. I think it's up to us to find the

John Burnett:  What do workers gain from their toil? 10 I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet[a] no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. 12 I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. 13 That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God.
Solomon’s tone has shifted from all work is vanity to work is good while we live so that we can enjoy the satisfaction of our work.  God provides us work so that we may live.  My job of getting to work with kids is just another way that God has shown me grace.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Pat Bell: I enjoy reading this every time:) Puts so many things in perspective!

John Burnett:  There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
These verses seem like some deep philosophical thought was put into them but they are actually a simple look at the reality of time.  It does leave room for the individual to decide when each time comes and goes but is definite that each time will take place.
