Matthew 18:15-20

Rachel Workman: 15 “If another believer[d] sins against you,[e] go privately and point out the offense. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back. 16 But if you are unsuccessful, take one or two others with you and go back again, so that everything you say may be confirmed by two or three witnesses. 17 If the person still refuses to listen, take your case to the church. Then if he or she won’t accept the church’s decision, treat that person as a pagan or a corrupt tax collector.
18 “I tell you the truth, whatever you forbid[f] on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit[g] on earth will be permitted in heaven. I think it's important to remember who Jesus is speaking to here. He is speaking to the disciples.
19 “I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. 20 For where two or three gather together as my followers,[h] I am there among them.” Again, I think it's important to remember who Jesus is speaking to here. He is not speaking to us when he said if two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. This verse is really taken out of context.

John Burnett:  15 “If your brother sins[a], go and [b]show him his fault [c]in private; if he listens to you, you have won your brother. 16 But if he does not listen to you, take one or two more with you, so that by the mouth of two or three witnesses every [d]fact may be confirmed. 17 If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as [e]a Gentile and [f]a tax collector. 18 Truly I say to you, whatever you [g]bind on earth [h]shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you [i]loose on earth [j]shall have been loosed in heaven.  I have done this before and my brother refused to meet with me and my witnesses.  I offered for him to choose the witnesses and he wouldn’t have any part of it.  I dropped the ball by not going to his church leadership (He was actually a Deacon) in his church.
19 “Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them [k]by My Father who is in heaven. 20 For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.”  I know people apply this to today’s gatherings but He was talking to the Disciples.  I know He will only do what is glorifying to His Son and that He examines the hearts of those who are asking.  If we are asking that His will be done because He knows what is best for us, it will be done.
