7 “What sorrow awaits the world, because it tempts people to sin. Temptations are inevitable, but what sorrow awaits the person who does the tempting. 8 So if your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It’s better to enter eternal life with only one hand or one foot than to be thrown into eternal fire with both of your hands and feet. 9 And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It’s better to enter eternal life with only one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.[b]
10 “Beware that you don’t look down on any of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels are always in the presence of my heavenly Father.
Today's reading has left me going hmmm. It would be arrogant and ignorant of me to claim that I know everything there is to know about the bible. There was a part of me that dismissed that we have angels looking over us. Angels in the presence of our Lord. I was wrong. Little ones is not really referring to children here. It's either those who are weak in faith or have a small amount of faith which goes with the above reading. Or it could mean those who have taken on childlike qualities and trust in Christ the same way a small child might trust a parent to love and care for them.

John
Burnett: 6 but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it [a]would be better for him to have a [b]heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea. Little
ones are not only children but also means those who are new Christians
who do not understand most doctrines yet. New born again Christians are
new to the Word and have to grow in the Word in the process of becoming
more like Jesus Christ called sanctification. False teachers should be
fitted for the 2000 lb. necklace but their consequences will be much
worse than this.
Stumbling Blocks
7 “Woe to the world because of its
stumbling blocks! For it is inevitable that stumbling blocks come; but
woe to that man through whom the stumbling block comes! See above. Woe to Joel Osteen, Jesse Duplantis, and Benny Hinn as they teach a false prosperity gospel.
8 “If
your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it
from you; it is better for you to enter life crippled or lame, than [c]to have two hands or two feet and be cast into the eternal fire. 9 If your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it from you. It is better for you to enter life with one eye, than [d]to have two eyes and be cast into the [e]fiery hell.
10 “See
that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that
their angels in heaven continually see the face of My Father who is in
heaven. I look forward to understanding this
verse fully, but my comprehension of it at this point is that children
have an angel or angels looking over them and that they are very
important angels who are in the presence of the Father at all times. It
gives us an idea of how we are to treat children and that children who
die too young and before the age of accountability are important enough
to have an angel assigned to them, I like to think God is merciful
towards them and take them to Heaven.
