Rachel Workman: 12 Since this new way gives us such confidence, we can be very bold. 13 We are not like Moses, who put a veil over his face so the people of Israel would not see the glory, even though it was destined to fade away. 14 But the people’s minds were hardened, and to this day whenever the old covenant is being read, the same veil covers their minds so they cannot understand the truth. And this veil can be removed only by believing in Christ. 15 Yes, even today when they read Moses’ writings, their hearts are covered with that veil, and they do not understand.
16 But whenever someone turns to the
Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 For the Lord is the Spirit,
and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 So
all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the
Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are
changed into his glorious image. I love these verses. I think it's safe to
say that those who don't know Christ still have the veil and hardening of
hearts. They can't understand God's law because it is not written on their
hearts. The veil has not been removed. I feel sorry for them.

John Burnett: 12 Therefore, since we have
such a hope, we are very bold. 13 We are not
like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to prevent the Israelites
from seeing the end of what was passing away. 14 But
their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the
old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ
is it taken away. 15 Even to this day when Moses is
read, a veil covers their hearts. 16 But whenever
anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now
the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is
freedom. 18 And we all, who with unveiled faces
contemplate[a] the
Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with
ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. We are free from sin.
Does it mean that we won’t still sin? No, but we now have the Holy Spirit
helping us to grow through the process of sanctification, being transformed
into His image. We will be glorified with Him because we belong to Him
and He is alone is worthy of glory.
Have a great weekend.

Allen Michaels: 12 Therefore, since we have

The apostle
reminds the Corinthians immediately that the Lord is in their hearts, in their
human spirits. Their hope of freedom comes from that great fact, for the one
who is within them is God Himself. Paul identifies Him: the Lord is the Spirit,
and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
Freedom
is being out in the open, having boldness, having nothing to hide. Those who
are free are those who do not have any reputation to defend, no image to hide behind,
nothing to preserve about them. They can be themselves. Everywhere today,
people are longing for this type of freedom. People want to be themselves. I've
got to be me, we hear, and there is nothing wrong with that. God wants you to
be you, too. The only thing wrong is the way we do it. We are being taught in
the world that the way to be me is to think about my advantage, my efforts, and
to defend and demand them.

Monday's reading for 2 Corinthians 4:1-4
4 Therefore,
since God in his mercy has given us this new way,[a] we never give up. 2 We
reject all shameful deeds and underhanded methods. We don’t try to trick anyone
or distort the word of God. We tell the truth before God, and all who are
honest know this.3 If the Good News we preach is hidden behind a veil, it is hidden only from people who are perishing. 4 Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.
