11 In the same
way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12 Therefore
do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. 13 Do
not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but
rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to
life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of
righteousness. 14 For sin shall no longer be your master,
because you are not under the law, but under grace. Thank you Jesus for your
grace. I don't want sin as my master. I want what's good and just as my master.

John Burnett:
8 Now if
we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9 knowing that Christ, having
been raised from the dead, [a]is never to die again; death no
longer is master over Him. 10 For
the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He
lives, He lives to God. 11 Even
so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ
Jesus. We sometimes forget as Christians that we will never die because we
have eternal life through Jesus Christ. Actually no one will ever really
die but will only relocate to an eternal home in either heaven or hell.
If we are dead to sin we are alive to God and will live with God for eternity.
12 Therefore
do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, 13 and do not go
on presenting [b]the members of your body to sin as [c]instruments of unrighteousness;
but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as [d]instruments of righteousness to
God. 14 For sin
shall not be master over you, for you are not under law
but under grace. Paul’s theme of grace, the unmerited favor of God, is
reiterated here and reminds us how we should present ourselves and live
righteously. It is by grace we have been save because Jesus Christ
imputes his righteousness to our account so we don’t have to rely on our own
righteousness which allow sin to be our master.

Allen Michaels: 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. Because of Christ’s death and resurrection, his followers
need never fear death. That assurance frees us to enjoy fellowship with him and
to do his will. This will affect all our activities—work and worship, play,
Bible study, quiet times, and times spent caring for others. When we know that
we never have to fear death, we will experience a new vigor in life.
9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he
cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. 10 The
death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to
God.
11 In the same way,
count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. ”Count yourselves dead to sin” means that we should regard
our old sinful nature as dead and unresponsive to sin. Because of our union and
identification with Christ, we are no longer obligated to carry out those old
motives, desires, and goals. So let us consider ourselves to be what God has in
fact made us. We have a new start, and the Holy Spirit will help us become in
our daily experience what Christ declared us to be.
15 What
then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no
means! 6:14, 15 asks us, if we’re no longer under
the law but under grace, are we now free to sin and disregard the Ten
Commandments? Paul says, “By no means.” When we were under the law, sin was our
master—the law does not justify us or help us overcome sin. But now that we are
bound to Christ, he is our Master, and he gives us power to do good rather than
evil.

Tomorrow’s reading for Romans 6:15-18
15 What then?
Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means! 16 Don’t
you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are
slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death,
or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? 17 But thanks be
to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from
your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance. 18 You
have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
