Rachel Workman: 28 And we know that in all things God works for
the good of those who love him, who[i] have been called according
to his purpose. 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined
to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among
many brothers and sisters. 30 And those he predestined, he also
called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also
glorified.
All things don’t just happen to work out for good on their own. Rather, God providentially works all things together for good for His people according to His purpose. How great is our God that he can accomplish that? He takes what broken and hopeless and gives life to it.

John Burnett:
28 And
we know that [a]God causes all things to work
together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according
to His purpose.29 For
those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed
to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many
brethren; 30 and
these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He
also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.
A lot
of deep theology in just a few verses here. 8:28 is one of those premier
verses, like John 3:16
or Philippians 4:13.
The promise here is that no matter what is happening in your life, it will be
good for you if you love God, and God knows what we need way better than we
know what we need. We were known before our time began, predestined,
called, justified, and will be glorified as co-hiers with Christ and we will
reign with Him when he comes.

Tuesday's reading for Romans 8:31-35. There is no reading Monday.
31 What, then,
shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against
us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us
all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who
will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who
justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ
Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of
God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us
from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or
nakedness or danger or sword?
