Rachel Workman: 24 But very early on Sunday morning[a]
the women went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. 2 They found that the stone
had been rolled away from the entrance. 3 So they went in, but they
didn’t find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 As they stood there
puzzled, two men suddenly appeared to them, clothed in dazzling robes.
The remarkable part of this
passage is the fact that women were the first to find the tomb empty. That
tells us that they recorded the actual facts even going against what would have
been considered taboo at the time. Women did not have a high ranking at this
period in time.

John Burnett: 24 But on the first day of
the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb bringing the spices which they
had prepared. 2 And they found the stone rolled
away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they
did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While
they were perplexed about this, behold, two men suddenly stood near
them in dazzling clothing;
In Luke 9 and Luke 18, Jesus told
the disciples he would be raised again on the third day. I don’t know if
that message was relayed to the ladies who were bringing spices that day but it
should have been no surprise to the disciples. Obviously they were either
not listening or he had not given them the ears to hear and understand at that
time.
