Rachel
Workman: 19 People will flee to caves in the
rocks
and to holes in the ground
from the fearful presence of the Lord
and the splendor of his majesty,
when he rises to shake the earth.
20 In that day people will throw away
to the moles and bats
their idols of silver and idols of gold,
which they made to worship.
21 They will flee to caverns in the rocks
and to the overhanging crags
from the fearful presence of the Lord
and the splendor of his majesty,
when he rises to shake the earth.
and to holes in the ground
from the fearful presence of the Lord
and the splendor of his majesty,
when he rises to shake the earth.

21 They will flee to caverns in the rocks

22 Stop trusting in mere humans,
who have but a breath in their nostrils.
Why hold them in esteem?
who have but a breath in their nostrils.
Why hold them in esteem?
Good question. We see this a lot
in the world today. We idolize the wrong things. Social media, and Hollywood
shape what we see, do and believe. Why?

John Burnett: 19 And people shall enter the
caves of the rocks
and the holes of the ground,[a]
from before the terror of the Lord,
and from the splendor of his majesty,
when he rises to terrify the earth.
and the holes of the ground,[a]
from before the terror of the Lord,
and from the splendor of his majesty,
when he rises to terrify the earth.
20 In that day mankind will cast away
their idols of silver and their idols of gold,
which they made for themselves to worship,
to the moles and to the bats,
21 to enter the caverns of the rocks
and the clefts of the cliffs,
from before the terror of the Lord,
and from the splendor of his majesty,
when he rises to terrify the earth.
22 Stop regarding man
in whose nostrils is breath,
for of what account is he? In this prophesy, Israel will be under attack from man and will be hiding in the caves in the mountains of Israel. What man can do is nothing compared to the wrath of God (terror of the LORD) that is about to be poured out on those who have not repented and put their trust in Jesus Christ.

Tomorrow’s reading for Isaiah
3:1-7
3 The Lord, the Lord of
Heaven’s Armies,
will take away from Jerusalem and Judah
everything they depend on:
every bit of bread
and every drop of water,
2 all their heroes and soldiers,
judges and prophets,
fortune-tellers and elders,
3 army officers and high officials,
advisers, skilled sorcerers, and astrologers.
will take away from Jerusalem and Judah
everything they depend on:
every bit of bread
and every drop of water,
2 all their heroes and soldiers,
judges and prophets,
fortune-tellers and elders,
3 army officers and high officials,
advisers, skilled sorcerers, and astrologers.
4 I will make boys their leaders,
and toddlers their rulers.
5 People will oppress each other—
man against man,
neighbor against neighbor.
Young people will insult their elders,
and vulgar people will sneer at the honorable.
6 In
those days a man will say to his brother, and toddlers their rulers.
5 People will oppress each other—
man against man,
neighbor against neighbor.
Young people will insult their elders,
and vulgar people will sneer at the honorable.
“Since you have a coat, you be our leader!
Take charge of this heap of ruins!”
7 But he will reply,
“No! I can’t help.
I don’t have any extra food or clothes.
Don’t put me in charge!”
