Rachel Workman: 35 Jesus traveled through all the towns and villages of that area,
teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And
he healed every kind of disease and illness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had
compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without
a shepherd. 37 He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers
are few. 38 So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send
more workers into his fields.”
I love verse 36 he had compassion on them
because they were confused and helpless. I can assure that Jesus has had the
same kind of compassion on me. I too was one confused and helpless.

John
Burnett: 35 Jesus was going through all the cities
and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the
kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness.
36 Seeing the [a]people, He felt compassion
for them, because they were [b]distressed and [c]dispirited like sheep [d]without a shepherd. 37 Then
He *said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. 38 Therefore
beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.” Matthew paints a picture here that is just as true today as
it was then. Without a shepherd, distressed sheep with no hope is a
perfect representation of the world today. Those in Christ have our
shepherd and should feel secure because no one can snatch us from His hands.
It is not a coincidence that
the verses today reference the shepherd and the Shepherd’s Conference just
finished in California.

I watched the opening by John MacArthur last
night. It was awesome and highly recommend it.
