Rachel Workman: 26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
28 Furthermore,
just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God
gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They
have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity.
They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers,
God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil;
they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no
fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s
righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only
continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. These
are some pretty hard truths today. With everything that's going on in the world
right now and everything that's being forced on us to accept it's easier to go
with the flow. I will not accept something that God has called me not to
accept. Here he uses the word depraved and I couldn't agree more. Does that
mean I'm to hate? No, love the sinner hate the sin. But at the same time while
loving the sinner at no point should or will I accept what is not acceptable in
the eyes of the Lord. I will not be forced to believe something I do not nor
will I be forced to accept something that is unacceptable.

- How
can anyone read this and think that homosexuality is ok?? Beyond me!
28 Furthermore,

- In
the NKJV, vs.31 has 5 "un's": undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving,
unforgiving, unmerciful. Not words we want to be used to describe us for
sure.
32 Although
they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death,
they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who
practice them.
-
This verse certainly packs a punch...we may not be doing these things
ourselves, but if we are approving of those who do, we are condemning
ourselves. We must stand up for the truth!

Allen Michaels: 26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women
exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In
the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were
inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men,
and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. God’s
plan for natural sexual relationships is his ideal for his creation.
Unfortunately, sin distorts the natural use of God’s gifts. Sin often means not
only denying God, but also denying the way we are made. When people say that
any sex act is acceptable as long as nobody gets hurt, they are fooling
themselves. In the long run (and often in the short run), sin hurts
people—individuals, families, and even whole societies. How sad it is that
people who worship the things God made instead of the Creator so often distort
and destroy the very things they claim to value.
Sadly,
homosexuality is considered an acceptable practice by many in our world
today—even some churches are beginning to accept it. But society does not set
the standard for God’s law. Many homosexuals believe that their desires are
normal and that they have the right to display them. But God does not obligate
nor encourage us to fulfill all our desires (even normal ones). Those desires
that violate his laws must be controlled.
28 Furthermore, just
as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave
them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They
have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity.
They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers,
God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil;
they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no
fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s
righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only
continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. How were these people aware of God’s death penalty? Human
beings, created in God’s image, have a basic moral nature and a conscience.
This truth is understood beyond religious circles. Psychologists, for example,
say that the rare person who has no conscience, has a serious personality
disorder that is extremely difficult to treat. Most people instinctively know
when they do wrong—but they just may not care. Some people even risk an early
death for the freedom to indulge in their desires now. “I know it’s wrong, but
I really want it” they say; or, “I know it’s dangerous, but it’s worth the
risk.” For such people, part of the “fun” is going against God’s law, the
community’s moral standards, common sense, or their own sense of right and
wrong. But deep down inside they know that sin deserves the punishment of
death.

Monday’s reading for Romans 2:1-4
2 You,
therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at
whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who
pass judgment do the same things. 2 Now
we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth.
3 So when you, a mere
human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you
will escape God’s judgment? 4 Or do you show contempt for the riches of his
kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is
intended to lead you to repentance?
