Luke 12:6-12

Rachel Workman: “What is the price of five sparrows—two copper coins[b]? Yet God does not forget a single one of them. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows. I need to hear this every day.

“I tell you the truth, everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, the Son of Man[c] will also acknowledge in the presence of God’s angels. But anyone who denies me here on earth will be denied before God’s angels. 10 Anyone who speaks against the Son of Man can be forgiven, but anyone who blasphemes the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.

11 “And when you are brought to trial in the synagogues and before rulers and authorities, don’t worry about how to defend yourself or what to say, 12 for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what needs to be said.” I've seen this in my own life. They Holy Spirit steps in and gives us the words we need to speak. Later on I might second guess myself but the words were not for me. They were for the other person. I have no way of knowing what will reach someone and what will not. What might move me does not move another person.

John Burnett:  Luke 12:6-12
“What is the price of five sparrows—two copper coins[b]? Yet God does not forget a single one of them. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.  He knows the number of hairs on our head and the number of sins we are going to commit.  We are so valuable to Him that He died for us.
11 “And when you are brought to trial in the synagogues and before rulers and authorities, don’t worry about how to defend yourself or what to say, 12 for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what needs to be said.”  He is warning the apostles that they were going to be persecuted.  There will be a time when we are persecuted and I believe we can lean on this same promise of the Holy Spirit giving us the words to say.  Those who do not have the Holy Spirit will deny God will be denied at judgement day.

I think if you speak from your heart when talking about your faith, you won't be misunderstood.

Monday’s reading for Luke 12:13-15

13 Then someone called from the crowd, “Teacher, please tell my brother to divide our father’s estate with me.”
14 Jesus replied, “Friend, who made me a judge over you to decide such things as that?” 15 Then he said, “Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.”

Luke 12:1-5

John Burnett:  12 Meanwhile, the crowds grew until thousands were milling about and stepping on each other. Jesus turned first to his disciples and warned them, “Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees—their hypocrisy. The time is coming when everything that is covered up will be revealed, and all that is secret will be made known to all. Whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be shouted from the housetops for all to hear!  Will you be judged for your sins and or will you be judged based on Christ Righteousness that is imputed to you when you repent and put your trust in Him for your salvation.  We need to remember that the judge (Jesus Christ) is also an eyewitness because he has seen and knows everything we have done.
“Dear friends, don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot do any more to you after that. But I’ll tell you whom to fear. Fear God, who has the power to kill you and then throw you into hell.[a] Yes, he’s the one to fear.  We should be in fear of the one who control’s our destination for eternity.  We all will have eternal life, where we spend eternity is more important than the blink of an eye that we spend on this rock called earth.  Without Jesus Christ’s grace that He shows us through salvation we are all deserving of hell and wide is the gate that leads to hell, many will go through it.

Luke 11:50-54

Rachel Workman: 50 “As a result, this generation will be held responsible for the murder of all God’s prophets from the creation of the world— 51 from the murder of Abel to the murder of Zechariah, who was killed between the altar and the sanctuary. Yes, it will certainly be charged against this generation. That poor ignorant generation. What a sentencing.

52 “What sorrow awaits you experts in religious law! For you remove the key to knowledge from the people. You don’t enter the Kingdom yourselves, and you prevent others from entering.” I agree with Jesus on this statement. Preventing someone from entering the kingdom of heaven would be like the abused animal. By no choice of it’s on it’s left on a chain day in and day out. It goes unfed, tried to the point of not being able to move. That has to be hell for a dog. The dog didn’t choose that life someone else chose it for him. The only difference is when he dies he gets relief. There is no relief for humans in hell.

53 As Jesus was leaving, the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees became hostile and tried to provoke him with many questions. 54 They wanted to trap him into saying something they could use against him.
