Rachel
Workman: 14 One
day Jesus cast out a demon from a man who couldn’t speak, and when the demon
was gone, the man began to speak. The crowds were amazed, 15 but some of them said, “No
wonder he can cast out demons. He gets his power from Satan,[f]
the prince of demons.” 16 Others, trying to test
Jesus, demanded that he show them a miraculous sign from heaven to prove his
authority. It's obvious that they people didn't have Christ in them. They
would have known who Christ was where is power came from.

John
Burnett: 14 One day Jesus cast out a demon from a
man who couldn’t speak, and when the demon was gone, the man began to speak.
The crowds were amazed, 15 but some of them said, “No wonder he
can cast out demons. He gets his power from Satan,[f]
the prince of demons.” 16 Others, trying to test Jesus,
demanded that he show them a miraculous sign from heaven to prove his
authority. We are not to test God. This
passage also goes to show that sinful man cannot see what is right in front of
him when it comes to seeking God. Jesus just performed a miracle right in
front of them and they tried to justify it another way instead of giving Him
the glory He deserves as King of kings and Lord of lords.
Have a great weekend.

The word is as true
now as it was then. It never fails to amaze me at how humanity never changes! Sometimes
even when we see it with our eyes, we find ways to justify.
