Rachel Workman: 59 About an hour later someone else insisted, “This must be one of them, because he is a Galilean, too.”
60 But Peter said, “Man, I don’t know
what you are talking about.” And immediately, while he was still speaking, the
rooster crowed.
61 At that moment the Lord turned and
looked at Peter. Suddenly, the Lord’s words flashed through Peter’s mind: “Before
the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will deny three times that you even
know me.” 62 And Peter left the courtyard, weeping bitterly. It's
that the way it is when we've done something we know is wrong? Unfortunately,
I've been Peter way too many times.

John Burnett: 59 After about an hour had
passed, another man began to insist, saying, “Certainly this
man also was with Him, for he is a Galilean too.” 60 But
Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are talking about.” Immediately, while
he was still speaking, a rooster crowed. 61 The
Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how
He had told him, “Before a rooster crows today, you will deny Me three
times.” 62 And he went out and wept bitterly.
We deny Him daily when we sin and do not give Him the
glory that He deserves, but as with Peter, Jesus shows us grace and mercy and
will use us to bring glory unto himself and to us some day.

Pat Bell: I relate with Peter. It makes your
heart hurt when you think you have disappointed with your actions.

Tomorrow’s reading for Luke 22:63-65
63 The guards in charge of Jesus began
mocking and beating him. 64 They blindfolded him and said,
“Prophesy to us! Who hit you that time?” 65 And they hurled all
sorts of terrible insults at him.
