Matthew 11:25-30

Rachel Workman: 25 At that time Jesus prayed this prayer: “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. 26 Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way! I love how Jesus just knows the heart of God. It's not as easy for us. But if we could have the attitude of Jesus and instead of being upset by something we think should be different and instead say thank you Father I see your wisdom in that I think we would get closer to the heart of God. And it's not hard to find God's wisdom in most situations if we look for it.
27 “My Father has entrusted everything to me. No one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” Everything has been entrusted to Jesus, which is fitting and right. If we know God it's because Jesus chose to reveal him to us. I'm grateful that Jesus chose me.
28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Beautiful truly beautiful words. Come to me and I will, I love that. It's not maybe or might, it's a promise that says come to me and I will.

John Burnett:  13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how [a]can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men.
14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a [b]hill cannot be hidden; 15 nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a [c]basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.  Living in a way that is glorifying to the Father is not an easy thing to do and I fall way short.  I do however see how he uses people and situations to teach me humility and thankfulness for things that I take for granted.  As Christians, we have the greatest thing that you can possess.  Salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ and there is enough mercy and grace and reward in heaven to go around for everyone so we are called to share the gospel.  It would be incredibly selfish if we disobey our Heavenly Father.
He is Risen.  He has Risen indeed.  Remember that our salvation is totally dependent upon the fact that Jesus rose from the dead.

These words are beautiful and show the heart of our savior.

Allen Michaels:  25 At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. 26 Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do. Jesus mentioned two kinds of people in his prayer; the “wise”—arrogant in their own knowledge—and the “little children”—humbly open to receive the truth of God’s Word. We have to ask ourselves if we are wise in our own eyes, or do we seek the truth in childlike faith, realizing that only God holds all the answers?

27 “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. In the Old Testament “know” means more than knowledge. It implies an intimate relationship. The communion between God the Father and God the Son is the core of their relationship. For anyone else to know God, God must reveal himself to that person, by the Son’s choice. How fortunate we are that Jesus has clearly revealed to us God, his truth, and how we can know him.

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” We may be carrying heavy burdens of (1) sin, (2) excessive demands of religious leaders, (3) oppression and persecution, or (4) weariness in the search for God. The good news is that Jesus frees us from all these burdens. The rest that Jesus promises is love, healing, and peace with God, not the end of all labor. A relationship with God changes meaningless, wearisome toil into spiritual productivity and purpose.
