John Burnett:
35 In
the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the
house, and went away to a secluded place, and was praying there. 36 Simon and his companions searched
for Him; 37 they
found Him, and *said to Him, “Everyone is looking for You.” 38 He *said to them, “Let us go
somewhere else to the towns nearby, so that I may [a]preach
there also; for that is what I came for.”39 And
He went into their synagogues throughout all Galilee, [b]preaching
and casting out the demons. “Everyone is looking for You.”, is
completely opposite of what is taking place in our society today. Narrow
is the gate and few will pass through it is a far cry from everyone. I know
“everyone” applies to only the disciples which were just a dozen men but the
disappointment of knowing so few people are truly seeking Him was
disheartening. Even more so is the times when I am not faithful, but He
remains faithful.

Tomorrow's reading for Mark 1:40-45
40 A man with
leprosy[h] came to him and begged him on his knees,
“If you are willing, you can make me clean.”41 Jesus was indignant.[i] He reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” 42 Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed.
43 Jesus sent him away at once with a strong warning: 44 “See that you don’t tell this to anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.” 45 Instead he went out and began to talk freely, spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly but stayed outside in lonely places. Yet the people still came to him from everywhere.
