Rachel Workman: 3 My child,[a] never forget the things I have taught you.
Store my commands in your heart.
2 If you do this, you will live many years,
and your life will be satisfying. I love how he says your life will be satisfied. Satisfaction comes from knowing Christ. In today's time there are more people who have more things and who are never satisfied than every before.
3 Never let loyalty and kindness leave you!
Tie them around your neck as a reminder.
Write them deep within your heart.
4 Then you will find favor with both God and people,
and you will earn a good reputation. Loyalty and kindness are two things that have gone by the way side. It's not too late to take that back starting with you and I.
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
6 Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take. Trust and seek are the key words. I'd like to say I do both here but I'd be lying. I forget way too often the verse that states do not depend on your own understanding. That is where I go wrong most often.
7 Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom.
Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil.
8 Then you will have healing for your body
and strength for your bones.
9 Honor the Lord with your wealth
and with the best part of everything you produce.
10 Then he will fill your barns with grain,
and your vats will overflow with good wine. I love this, honor the Lord with your wealth and give the best part of everything you produce. We are to give the best of our love, kindness and compassion ect.. He isn't just speaking of money here.

John Burnett:
3 My
son, do not forget my teaching,
but keep my commands in your heart,
2 for they will prolong your life many years
and bring you peace and prosperity.
but keep my commands in your heart,
2 for they will prolong your life many years
and bring you peace and prosperity.
3 Let
love and faithfulness never leave you;
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 Then you will win favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man.
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 Then you will win favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man.
5 Trust
in the Lord with all
your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.[a]
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.[a]
7 Do
not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord and shun evil. Self-righteousness, wisdom in our own eyes or leaning on our own understanding when really don’t know anything is foolishness and was the sin that I think Jesus hated the most. If we trust Him and submit to Him for wisdom, our paths are straight.
8 This will bring health to your body
and nourishment to your bones.

9 Honor
the Lord with your
wealth,
with the firstfruits of all your crops;
10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing,
and your vats will brim over with new wine. When we skip a month of tithing, which doesn’t happen very often because this is so true, the next two months I give extra and God is so faithful when we are not. My barns are always overflowing.

from men whose words are perverse,
13 who have left the straight paths
to walk in dark ways,
14 who delight in doing wrong
and rejoice in the perverseness of evil,
15 whose paths are crooked
and who are devious in their ways.
13 who have left the straight paths
to walk in dark ways,
14 who delight in doing wrong
and rejoice in the perverseness of evil,
15 whose paths are crooked
and who are devious in their ways.
We must not do wrong actions, when
evil thoughts test us. The devil even tested Jesus (Matthew 4:1-11). But Jesus
did nothing that was wrong against God. God gives his wisdom to us. His Bible
teaches us how we should live.
16 Wisdom
will save you also from the adulterous woman,
from the wayward woman with her seductive words,
17 who has left the partner of her youth
and ignored the covenant she made before God.
18 Surely her house leads down to death
and her paths to the spirits of the dead.
19 None who go to her return
or attain the paths of life.

and ignored the covenant she made before God.
18 Surely her house leads down to death
and her paths to the spirits of the dead.
19 None who go to her return
or attain the paths of life.
If we turn from God, this is like
leaving our husband or wife. When we became a Christian, we promised to follow
God. Evil thoughts may still tempt us. Other religions may tempt us. Sex may
tempt us. We must not break our promise to God! Jesus said, ‘I am the way. The
only way to the father (God) is through me.’ (John 14:6)
20 Thus
you will walk in the ways of the good
and keep to the paths of the righteous.
21 For the upright will live in the land,
and the blameless will remain in it;
22 but the wicked will be cut off from the land,
and the unfaithful will be torn from it.

21 For the upright will live in the land,

22 but the wicked will be cut off from the land,
and the unfaithful will be torn from it.
As Christians, our land is not this
world. We are only visitors, because we belong elsewhere. Our real home is in
heaven (Hebrews 11:13-16). We must follow God. He will lead us to heaven. He
has prepared a place for us in heaven (John 14:1-4).

Monday's reading for Mark 1:1-8
1 The beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah,[a] the Son of God,[b] 2 as it is
written in Isaiah the prophet:
“I will send
my messenger ahead of you,
who will prepare your way”[c]—
3 “a voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.’”[d]
who will prepare your way”[c]—
3 “a voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.’”[d]
4 And so John
the Baptist appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for
the forgiveness of sins. 5 The
whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him.
Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River.
6 John wore clothing made
of camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and
wild honey. 7 And
this was his message: “After me comes the one more powerful than I, the straps
of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. 8 I baptize you with[e] water, but he will baptize you with[f] the Holy Spirit.”
